9-22. Open the shroud.3. Remove the red (+) lead from the leadholder and move it away from the black(-) lead.CAUTION:@Be sure to connect the red (+) jumpercable to the red (+) lead and the black (-)jumper cable to the black (-) lead. Do notreverse the connections.@4. Pull the red (+) lead cover to exposethe terminal through the slit in thecover, and then connect the red (+)jumper cable to the red terminal of thedischarged battery.5. Connect the other end of the red (+)jumper cable to the positive (+) terminalof the booster battery.6. Connect the black (-) jumper cable tothe negative (-) terminal of the boosterbattery.7. Pull the black (-) lead cover to exposethe terminal through the slit in thecover, and then connect the black (-)jumper cable to the black terminal ofthe discharged battery.8. Start the engine.9. Disconnect the black (-) jumper cablefrom the black (-) connecting lead, andthen pull the cover completely over thelead terminal.10. Disconnect the black (-) jumper cablefrom the negative (-) terminal of thebooster battery.11. Disconnect the red (+) jumper cablefrom the positive (+) terminal of thebooster battery.12. Disconnect the red (+) jumper cablefrom the red (+) connecting lead, andthen pull the cover completely over thelead terminal.13. Install the red (+) lead into the leadholder.
