The wheel rims should be checkedfor cracks, bends or warpage be-fore each ride. If any damage isfound, have a Yamaha dealer re-place the wheel. Do not attempteven the smallest repair to thewheel. A deformed or crackedwheel must be replaced. The wheel should be balancedwhenever either the tire or wheelhas been changed or replaced. Anunbalanced wheel can result inpoor performance, adverse han-dling characteristics, and a short-ened tire life. Ride at moderate speeds afterchanging a tire since the tire sur-face must first be “broken in” for itto develop its optimal characteris-tics.EAU33891Adjusting the clutch lever freeplayThe clutch lever free play should mea-sure 10.0–15.0 mm (0.39–0.59 in) asshown. Periodically check the clutch le-ver free play and, if necessary, adjust itas follows.To increase the clutch lever free play,turn the clutch lever free play adjustingbolt at the clutch lever in direction (a).To decrease the clutch lever free play,turn the adjusting bolt in direction (b).TIPIf the specified clutch lever free playcannot be obtained as describedabove, proceed as follows.1. Fully turn the adjusting bolt at theclutch lever in direction (a) to loos-en the clutch cable.2. Loosen the locknut at the crank-case.3. To increase the clutch lever freeplay, turn the clutch lever free playadjusting nut in direction (a). Todecrease the clutch lever free play,turn the adjusting nut in direction(b).1.
