19Things to note• The cooling fan for the controls mayoperate after a time.Do not place dishes, tins and trays directlyon the oven base as it becomes very hot anddamage will occur. To fit the top oven shelfOnly use the shelf with the large solid metalplate at the rear of the shelf in the top oven. The shelf should be fitted with the straight rodsuppermost on the frame and the forms towardsthe back of the oven. If not fitted correctly theanti-tilt and safety stop mechanism will beaffected.Hints and tips• Arrange the shelves in the requiredpositions before switching the oven on.Shelf positions are counted from the topdownwards.12• Ensure that food is placed centrally on theshelf and there is sufficient room aroundthe baking tray/dish to allow for maximumcirculation.• Do not push dishes too far back as foodwill burn if it overhangs the burner flame• Stand dishes on a suitably sized bakingtray on the shelf to prevent spillage ontothe oven base and to help reduce cleaning.• The material and finish of the baking trayand dishes used affect base browning.Enamelware, dark, heavy or non-stickutensils increase base browning. Shinyaluminium or polished steel trays reflect theheat away and give less base browning.• Do not place baking trays directly on theoven base as it interferes with the oven aircirculation and can lead to base burning;use the lower shelf position.• For economy leave the door open for theshortest possible time, particularly whenplacing food into a pre-heated oven.Do not place cookware and cooking potswith rough bases e.g. cast iron on the ovendoor as damage to the glass may occur.
