31Troubleshooting• Maintenance must only be carried out by acompetent/qualified person. Do not try toalter/modify the appliance yourself, as thiscould be dangerous.• We recommend that your appliance has anannual gas safety check carried out by ourapproved service organisation.• Please carry out the following checks onyour appliance before calling a ServiceEngineer. It may be that the problem is asimple one that you can solve yourselfwithout the expense of a service call.• In-guarantee customers should makesure that the checks have been made asthe engineer will make a charge if thefault is not a mechanical or electricalbreakdown.• Please note that proof of purchase isrequired for in-guarantee service calls.PROBLEM POSSIBLE SOLUTIONThe grill, ovens and timer do not work. Check that the appliance has been wired in to theappliance supply and is switched on at the wall.Check that there is not a problem with your gassupply.You can do this by making sure the other gasappliances such as central heating or gas fires areworking.Check that the main appliance fuse is working.If you have checked the above:Allow the appliance to cool for a couple of hours.The appliance should now be working normally.The grill and top oven work but the main ovendoes not.Check that the time of day has been set on theclock. Check that the oven is set for manual.The timer does not work. Check that the instructions for the operation of thetimer are being closely followed.The cooling fan does not work. Check that there is not a problem with yourelectricity supply.The oven is not cooking evenly. Check that the appliance is correctly installed andis level.Check that the recommended temperatures andshelf positions are being used.The oven light fails to illuminate. The oven light bulb may need replacing.The oven temperature is too high or too low. Check that the recommended temperatures andshelf positions are being used. Be prepared toadjust the temperature up or down slightly toachieve the results you want.
