23Important Safety RequirementsThis appliance must be installed in accordance withthe Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations(current addition) and the I.E.E. Wiring Regulations.Detailed recommendations are contained in thefollowing British Standard Codes of Practice - B.S.6172, B.S. 5440: Part 2 and B.S. 6891: CurrentEditions.Provision for VentilationThe room containing the cooker should have an airsupply in accordance with B.S. 5440: Part 2: CurrentEditions.The following requirements for ventilation must bemet.The cooker should not be installed in a bed sittingroom with a volume of less than 20m 3 , if it isinstalled in a room of volume less 5m 3 an air vent ofeffective area of 110cm 2 is required; if it is installedin a room of volume between 5m 3 and 10m 3, an airvent of effective area 50cm 2 is required, while if thevolume exceeds 11m 3 no air vent is required.However, if the room has a door which opensdirectly to the outside, no air vent is required evenwhen the volume is between 5m 3 and 11m 3 .If there are other fuel burning appliances in the sameroom, B.S. 5440: Part. 2: Current Editions should beconsulted to determine the requisite air ventrequirements.LocationThe cooker may be located in a kitchen, a kitchen/diner or bedsitting room but not in a bathroom orshower room.For information regarding the fitting of flexiblesupply pipes, the highest temperature at the rear ofthis cooker which may come into contact with thesupply pipe is 70°C above ambient.When the appliance has been installed there must beenough space for the glass hotplate lid to open fully.Positioning the CookerCaution:Some soft or badly fitted floor coverings can bedamaged when the cooker is moved across theirsurface for cleaning. It is advisable to ensure that thefloor covering in the area below the cooker is eithersecurely fixed so as not to ruck up when the cooker ismoved or, if preferred, removed.
