Axiolab A Carl ZeissB 40-015 e 06/99 3-173.4 Use of Polished Section AttachmentThe polished section attachment from the line of accessories provides another possibility of holdingobjects for examinations in incident light. It has been intended for use with the gliding stage. Basically, the polished section attachment can also be used with the fixed stage. Use ascrewdriver to remove the two bolts (3-14/5) on the underside and place the attachment onthe fixed stage without any securing elements.The polished section attachment accommodatesspecimens of any shape with one processed(ground and polished) surface and aligns themparallel to the stage surface.• Gliding stage (3-14/6) - or also fixed stage - atthe lower stop.• Remove magnetically held plate (3-14/1) fromthe polished section stage (3-14/4).• Remove both retaining clips and insert twobolts (3-14/5) of the polished section stage(3-14/4) into the drilled holes of the glidingstage (3-14/6).• Use the retaining clip (3-14/3) to fix thepolished section (3-14/2) to the plate(3-14/1) from below.• Attach the specimen assembly to thepremounted polished section attachment.• The two knurled screws (3-14/7) permit the attachment to be slightly tilted towards its support.Should the microscope image be unilaterally out of focus in the field of view, this can be remedied byslightly changing the tilt of the attachment.Fig. 3-14 Use of polished section attachment
