Care, maintenance and trouble-shootingCarl Zeiss Care and maintenance of the instrument Axiostar plus4-2 B 40-815 e 12/014 CARE, MAINTENANCE ANDTROUBLE-SHOOTING4.1 Care and maintenance of theinstrumentCare of the Axiostar plus is limited to thefollowing operations:• Cover the instrument with the dust coverafter every use.• Do not set up the instrument in a damproom, i.e. max. humidity < 85 %.• Cover open tubes with dust protectioncaps.• Remove dust and dirt from visible opticalsurfaces using a brush, airblower, Q-tip,optics cleaning paper or a cotton cloth.• Remove water-soluble dirt (coffee, Coke,etc.) after breathing on it and wiping it offwith a dust-free cotton cloth or amoistened cloth. A mild cleaning agent canalso be added to the water.• Remove stubborn, oily or greasy dirt(immersion oils, fingerprints) with a wad ofcotton or a dust-free cotton cloth dipped inthe optics cleaning mixture L.This cleaning mixture is produced of90 Vol% benzoline and 10 Vol%isopropanol (IPA). The various componentsare also known under the followingsynonyms:benzoline: medical alcohol,petroleum etherIsopropanol 2-propanol,dimethyl carbinol,2-hydroxypropaneClean the optical surface by moving in circlesstarting in the middle. Slight pressure should beexerted on the optics during cleaning.When using the Axiostar plus in humid climaticzones, proceed as follows:• Store the Axiostar plus in bright, dry andwell-ventilated rooms with a humidity ofless than 85 %; store particularly sensitivecomponents and accessories, such asobjectives and eyepieces, in a dry closet.The risk of growth of fungus on opto-mechanical instruments always exists in thefollowing conditions:− Relative humidity of more than 75% andtemperatures between +15 °C and +35 °Cfor more than three days.− Installation in dark rooms without airventilation.− Dust deposits and fingerprints on opticalsurfaces.Artisan Scientific - Quality Instrumentation ...
