2 Assembly and installationBU 0135 en-4118 472.4 Operation in potentially explosive environmentsWARNING Danger of explosion due to electricityElectric sparks may ignite an explosive atmosphere.• Do not open the device in an explosive atmosphere and do not remove any covers (e.g.diagnostic openings).• All work on the device must only be carried out with the power to the system switchedoff.• Wait for the required time (≥ 30 min) after switching off.• Before starting work, check that all relevant components (voltage source, connectioncables, connection terminals of the device) are free of voltage using suitable measuringequipment.WARNING Explosion hazard due to high temperaturesHigh temperatures may cause the ignition of an explosive atmosphere.Temperatures may occur within the device and the motor, which are higher than the maximumpermissible surface temperature of the housing. Dust deposits may restrict the cooling of thedevice.• Clean the device at regular intervals to prevent the accumulation of impermissible dustdeposits.• Do not open or remove the device from the motor in an explosive atmosphere. With appropriate modification, the device can be used in certain potentially explosive areas. If the device is connected to a motor and a gear unit, the EX labelling of the motor and the gear unitmust also be observed. Otherwise the drive must not be operated.
