and activated independent of which phase is involved. Depending on which phases areinvolved the outputs TR1P, TR2P and TR3P will be activated as well. When single-phase tripping schemes are used a single-phase autoreclosing attempt isexpected to follow. For cases where the autoreclosing is not in service or will not follow forsome reason, the input Prepare Three-phase Trip P3PTR must be activated. This is normallyconnected to the respective output on the Synchrocheck, energizing check, and synchronizingfunction SESRSYN but can also be connected to other signals, for example an external logicsignal. If two breakers are involved, one TR block instance and one SESRSYN instance is usedfor each breaker. This will ensure correct operation and behavior of each breaker. The output Trip 3 Phase TR3P must be connected to the respective input in SESRSYN to switchSESRSYN to three-phase reclosing. If this signal is not activated SESRSYN will use single-phasereclosing dead time.Note also that if a second line protection is utilizing the same SESRSYN thethree-phase trip signal must be generated, for example by using the three-triprelays contacts in series and connecting them in parallel to the TR3P outputfrom the trip block. The trip logic also has inputs TRINL1, TRINL2 and TRINL3 where phase-selected trip signals canbe connected. Examples can be individual phase inter-trips from remote end or internal/external phase selected trip signals, which are routed through the IED to achieve, for exampleSESRSYN, Breaker failure, and so on. Other back-up functions are connected to the input TRINas described above. A typical connection for a single-phase tripping scheme is shown infigure 81.BLOCKBLKLKOUTTRINTRINL1TRINL2TRINL3PSL1PSL2PSL31PTRZ1PTREFP3PTRSETLKOUTRSTLKOUTSMPPTRCTRIPTRL1TRL2TRL3TR1PTR2PTR3PCLLKOUTTR3PSMBRRECPREP3P³1TR3PPhase SelectionPSL1PSL2PSL3Distance protection zone 1 TRIPDistance protection zone 2 TRIPDistance protection zone 3 TRIPOvercurrent protection TRIPIEC05000545-3-en.vsdIEC05000545 V3 EN-USFigure 81: The trip logic function SMPPTRC used for single-phase tripping application12.1.2.3 Single-, two- or three-phase tripping M14828-15 v3The single-/two-/three-phase tripping mode provides single-phase tripping for single-phasefaults, two-phase tripping for two-phase faults and three-phase tripping for multi-phasefaults.
