Section 15 Logic15.1 Tripping logic SMPPTRC (94)15.1.1 Operation principleThe duration of a trip output signal from tripping logic common 3-phase outputSMPPTRC (94) is settable (tTripMin). The pulse length should be long enough to securethe breaker opening. For three-pole tripping logic common 3-phase output, SMPPTRC (94) has a single input(TRINP_3P) through which all trip output signals from the protection functions within theIED, or from external protection functions via one or more of the IEDs binary inputs, arerouted. It has a single trip output (TRIP) for connection to one or more of the IEDs binaryoutputs, as well as to other functions within the IED requiring this signal.ANDBLOCKTRINOperation Mode = EnabledORttTripMin TRIPProgram = 3 phaseANSI10000266-1-en.vsdANSI10000266 V1 ENFigure 139: Simplified logic diagram for three pole tripSMPPTRC (94) function for single-pole and two-pole tripping has additional phasesegregated inputs for this, as well as inputs for faulted phase selection. The latter inputsenable single- pole and two-pole tripping for those functions which do not have their ownphase selection capability, and therefore which have just a single trip output and not phasesegregated trip outputs for routing through the phase segregated trip inputs of theexpanded SMPPTRC (94) function. Examples of such protection functions are theresidual overcurrent protections. The expanded SMPPTRC (94) function has two inputsfor these functions, one for impedance tripping (for example, carrier-aided trippingcommands from the scheme communication logic), and one for ground fault tripping (forexample, tripping output from a residual overcurrent protection).1MRK 511 365-UUS A Section 15LogicPhasor measurement unit RES670 2.1 ANSI 411Technical manual
