4-5Installing Software on a Windows NT ServerWindows NT Installation and Configuration NotesIf Windows NT Setup HangsDuring Windows NT installation, the system may hang while theWindows NT Setup floppy is being used to copy the SCSI diskdevice driver. A workaround is to boot from a DOS boot disk, createa DOS partition on the array using fdisk, and then install WindowsNT on the array.Windows NT Disk AdministratorWhen creating a new array on a system running under WindowsNT, the array is not listed as “usable” in the NT Disk Administratoruntil it is initialized. This is normal Windows NT functionality.Boot Order In Windows NT vs. ArrayConfigSADuring Windows NT installation, Windows NT does not show theperipherals in the boot order. Instead, it shows the arrays with thelower SCSI ID (on lower channel) first. To remedy this, try one of thefollowing:n Disconnect all peripherals other than members of the bootarray, so that only one peripheral is present in the WindowsNT installation. Reconnect all other peripherals after WindowsNT is successfully installed.n Configure the boot array in the ArrayConfigSA utility so thatthe lowest SCSI ID on the lowest channel is a member of theboot array.Microsoft BackOffice Small Business ServerMicrosoft BackOffice Small Business Server features a nonbootableinstallation CD and installation diskettes which do not ask for third-party driver diskettes (Manufacturer-supplied hardware supportdisks). To have the installation program prompt you for the thirdparty driver diskettes, do the following:1 Copy thewinnt.sif file from theI386 directory on theBackOffice Small Business Server CD to Disk 2 of the WindowsNT boot diskettes (overwrite existing file).2 Reboot the system using the Windows NT boot diskettes. AfterDisk 2 is inserted, the installation program prompts you for themanufacturer-supplied hardware support disks.
