Features AW00123409000272 Basler ace USB 3.07.14 Color Creation and EnhancementThis chapter provides information about how color images are created on different camera modelsand about the features available for adjusting the appearance of the colors.7.14.1 Color CreationThe sensors in the color versions of the Basler ace USB 3.0 cameras are equipped with an additivecolor separation filter known as a Bayer filter. The pixel formats available on color cameras for pixeldata output are related to the Bayer pattern. You therefore need a basic knowledge of the Bayerfilter to understand the pixel formats. With the Bayer filter, each individual pixel is covered by a partof the filter that allows light of only one color to strike the pixel. The pattern of the Bayer filter usedon the camera is as shown in Figure 107 (the alignment of the Bayer filter to the pixels in theacquired images (with respect to the sensor) is shown as an example only; the figure shows the"BG" filter alignment. For an explanation, see Section 7.14.1.1 on page 273). As the figureillustrates, within each square of four pixels, one pixel sees only red light, one sees only blue light, and two pixels see only green light. (This combination mimics the human eye’s sensitivity to color.)SensorPixelsFig. 107: Bayer Filter Pattern With "BG" Physical Alignment as an Example
