Connecting to the NetworkDLEHF-MA User’s Guide3-53.5 CONNECTING TO THE NETWORKThis section provides the procedures for connecting fiber optic segmentsfrom the network or other devices to the modules.Ports 1 and 2 of the DLEHF-MA support DELTX-UI, DELFX-UI, orDELF3-UI Fast Ethernet Interface Modules. The DELTX-UI has an RJ45connector for a twisted pair cable connection. The DELFX-UI has an SCstyle connector for a multimode fiber optic cable connection. TheDELF3-UI has an SC style connector for a single mode fiber optic cableconnection.Refer to Section 3.5.1 to make a twisted pair connection to a DELTX-UI.Refer to Section 3.5.2 to make a fiber optic connection to a DELFX-UI ora DELF3-UI.3.5.1 Connecting a Twisted Pair Segment to theDELTX-UIA DELTX-UI installed in port 1 and/or 2 has an internal crossover switch. If you need a crossover, set the Fast Ethernet Interface Module crossoverswitch shown in Figure 3-2 to the crossed over position marked with anX. If you do not need a crossover, set the Fast Ethernet Interface Modulecrossover switch shown in Figure 3-2 to the not crossed over position, marked with an =.If the DLEHF-MA is being installed in a network usingSmartTrunking, there are rules concerning the network cableand port configurations that must be followed for SmartTrunkingto operate properly. Before connecting the cables refer toSection 5.19, for the configuration information. The DELTX-UI supports Category 5 UTP cabling with animpedance between 85 and 111 ohms only.An odd number of crossovers (preferably one) must bemaintained between like devices so that the transmit port ofone device is connected to the receive port of the other deviceand vice versa.
