IGMP/VLAN Configuration ScreenLocal Management Supplement1-45PORT FILTERING CONFIGURATIONUsed to set the switch to filter out inbound frames to prevent them frombeing forwarded by the switch out a particular port. This screen also liststhe VLANs that have frames eligible to be transmitted out that port. Referto your SmartSwitch device user’s guide for additional information.VLAN FORWARDING CONFIGURATIONUsed to view which ports are included in the VLAN’s Forwarding Listand whether to include a Tag Header in a frame being transmitted. Referto your SmartSwitch device user’s guide for additional information.PROTOCOL VLAN CONFIGURATIONUsed to assign VLAN IDs to protocol types of received frames and toaccess the Protocol Ports Configuration screen to add or deletetransmitting ports associated with a specific VLAN ID and protocol type.Refer to your SmartSwitch device user’s guide for additional information.IGMP/VLAN CONFIGURATIONUsed to enable or disable IGMP (Internet Group Management Protocol)on selected VLANs. For details, refer to Section 1.19.1.19 IGMP/VLAN CONFIGURATION SCREENThe IGMP/VLAN Configuration screen, Figure 1-19, is used to enable ordisable IGMP (Internet Group Management Protocol, RFC 2236) onselected VLANs.IGMP provides a solution for handling multicast streams in layer 2switching devices. IGMP is for hosts on multi-access networks to informlocally attached switches of their Multicast group membershipinformation. This is performed by hosts multicasting IGMP HostMembership Reports. Multicast switches listen for these messages andthen pass them to the routers. This allows distribution trees to be formedto deliver multicast datagrams.Information from the IGMP packets is used to send the multicast streamonly to the end stations that request it.
