If this happens,move the steering wheel fromright to left while turning the keyto ACC/ACCESSORY. If this doesnot work, then the vehicle needsservice.B (ACC/ACCESSORY): Thisposition lets you use things likethe radio and the windshield wiperswhen the engine is off. This positionallows you to turn off the engine.C (ON/RUN): This position is fordriving. It is the position the ignitionswitch returns to after the enginestarts, and the key is released.This position can also be used forservice and diagnostics, and toverify the proper operation of themalfunction indicator lamp as maybe required for emission inspectionpurposes.To shift the transmission out ofP (Park), the ignition key has to bein ACC/ACCESSORY or ON/RUN.The battery could be drained if thekey is left in the ACC/ACCESSORYor ON/RUN position with the engineoff. The vehicle might not start if thebattery is allowed to drain for anextended period of time.D (START): This position startsthe engine. When the engine starts,release the key. The ignition switchreturns to ON/RUN for driving.A warning tone will sound when thedriver door is opened, the ignitionis in ACC/ACCESSORY or LOCK/OFF, and the key is in the ignition.Ignition Positions(Keyless Access)The ignition control knob can beturned to four different positions.To shift out of P (Park), theignition must be in ON/RUN orACC/ACCESSORY and the regularbrake pedal must be applied.Using a tool to force the ignitioncontrol knob from its cylinder coulddamage it.
