When this message andlight displays, the system is notoperational. Driving should beadjusted accordingly. See DriverInformation Center (DIC) onpage 4‑31 and Messages andTraction Control System (TCS)/StabiliTrak ® Light on page 4‑28for more information.The TCS/StabiliTrak buttonis located on the instrumentpanel (CTS) or the steeringwheel (CTS-V).StabiliTrak comes on automaticallywhenever the vehicle is started.The system should be left on to helpassist with directional control of thevehicle.If StabiliTrak needs to beturned off, press and hold theTCS/StabiliTrak button until theStabiliTrak Off light comes on andSTABILITRAK OFF comes on theDIC. More steering effort is requiredwhen the system is turned off. Pressthe TCS/StabiliTrak button again toturn both systems back on.If cruise control is being usedwhen the StabiliTrak activates,the cruise control will automaticallydisengage. When road conditionsallow, reengage the cruise control.See Cruise Control on page 8‑44 formore information.Competitive Driving ModeTo select this optionalhandling mode, press theTCS/StabiliTrak button quicklytwo times and STABILITRAKCOMPETITIVE MODE displays inthe Driver Information Center (DIC).While in the StabiliTrak CompetitiveMode, the StabiliTrak Off lightcomes on, TCS does not limit wheelspin, and more effort is required toturn the steering wheel. Adjust yourdriving accordingly.Press the TCS/StabiliTrak buttonagain, or turn the ignition toACC/ACCESSORY and restart thevehicle, to turn TCS back on andturn the TCS/StabiliTrak warninglight off.
