Printing Maintenance58z When cleaning the print head of black ink tanks (for iP4000): selectBlack to clean the Print Head of Black (BCI-3eBK), CColor to clean thePrint Head of Black (BCI-6BK).z Clicking IInitial Check Items displays the items to be checked beforecleaning.(5) When the confirmation message is displayed, click OOK.Print Head Deep Cleaning starts when the PPOWER lamp starts blinking.Do not perform any other operation until the PPrint Head DeepCleaning finishes. This takes about one minute.4 Print the nozzle check pattern to check the Print Head condition.See “PPrinting the Nozzle Check Pattern” on page 49.If a particular color is not printed properly, replace the ink tank of that color. See“RReplacing an Ink Tank” on page 42.z If the print head nozzles are still not clean, open the Top Cover andensure that there are sufficient ink levels in all ink tanks and turn offthe printer. Be sure to perform another PPrint Head Deep Cleaning 24hours after turning off the printer.z If this does not solve the problem, the Print Head may be worn out.Contact the Customer Care Center.1 Ensure that the printer is on.2 Open the BBJ Printer Utility dialog box.(1) Double-click the hard disk icon where the printer driver was installed, theApplications folder, and then the UUtilities folder.(2) Double-click the PPrinter Setup Utility icon.When using versions of Mac OS other than Mac OS X v.10.3.x, double-click thePrint Center icon.(3) Select the name of your printer from the NName list and click UUtility.When using versions of Mac OS other than Mac OS X v.10.3.x, select the name ofyour printer from the NName list and click CConfigure.(4) Select the name of your printer from the PProduct list and click MMaintenance.
