Troubleshooting69Troubleshooting Printer HardwareProblem Possible Cause Try ThisPrinter Does NotStart or PrinterStops DuringPrint JobsPrint Head hasoverheated due tolong periods ofcontinuous printingStop printing and turn the printer off for at least 15 minutes to allow the Print Headto cool down.The Print Head tends to overheat when printing continuously for long periods oftime. The Print Head is designed to automatically pause at line breaks beforeresuming printing in order to cool down.The area around the Print Head can become extremely hot duringextended print operation. Always avoid touching the Print Head andits peripheral components.Printing high-resolutionphotographs andgraphicsWait until the print job finishes.The PPOWER lamp flashes green while the print data is being processed. Printingphotographs and high-density graphics can take time.There may beproblems with youroperating systemRestart your computer. It may solve the problem.Delete an undesired print job, if there is any. Use BBJ Status Monitor in Windows orPrinter Setup Utility (or PPrint Center) in Macintosh for the deletion.1. Open the PPrinter Properties dialog box.See “OOpening the Printer Properties Dialog Box Directly from the Start Menu”on page 28.2. Click the MMaintenance tab and then SStart Status Monitor.3. Click DDisplay Print Queue.4. Select CCancel All Documents in the PPrinter menu.In Windows Me, Windows 98, Windows 95, or Windows NT 4.0Click to select an undesired document and select PPurge PrintDocuments in the PPrinter menu.5. When the confirmation message is displayed, click YYes.The print job is deleted.In Windows 2000 and Windows NT 4.0, the print jobs may not bedeleted.1. Select AApplications from the GGo menu.2. Double-click the PPrinter Setup Utility icon in the UUtilities folder.When using versions of Mac OS other than Mac OS X v.10.3.x, double-click thePrint Center icon.3. Double-click the name of your printer displayed under NName in the PPrinter List.4. Click to select an undesired document and click .The print job is deleted.Incorrect papersource is selectedEnsure that PPaper Feed Switch is selected from PPaper Source (Windows) or thePrint dialog box (Macintosh) in the printer driver. If PPaper Feed Switch is selected,load paper in the paper source selected with Paper Feed Switch on the printer.If you select other settings, ensure that paper is loaded in the correct papersource.For a detailed description of the printer driver settings, refer to “Changing thePaper Source” in theUser’s Guide.Paper Output Tray isclosed Open the Paper Output Tray.Inner Cover is open Close the Inner Cover and press the RRESUME/CANCEL button.
