Slide the LOCK switch in the direction ofthe arrow to prevent the accidental operation ofthese controls.Power Saving MechanismsSTANDBY ButtonPress the STANDBY button and hold it pressed down for more than 1 second in record pause or VCR stopmode to enter the standby mode. The message “ENTERING “POWER STANDBY”” will be displayed beforethe camcorder enters the standby mode. In standby mode, power will be shut down to the camera andrecorder sections but camera settings (including exposure lock and color bars settings) will be retained.Press the STANDBY button again to turn the camcorder on.Power Save FunctionIn order to protect the tape and video heads, the camcorder will enter the power save mode (VCR stop) after4 minutes 30 seconds in record pause mode. If left 30 more seconds without any operation, the camcorderwill automatically shut off. Turn off the power save function with [SYSTEM SETUP] [POWER SAVE] setting( 136) if you wish to make adjustments without worrying about losing your settings as a result of theautomatic shut-off.Once the camcorder entered the power save mode, press the Start/Stop button to start recording or pressone of the custom keys ( 79) to which the [VCR STOP] function was assigned, to return to record pausemode. If the camcorder automatically shut off (after 5 minutes), turn the dial to OFF and then back toone of the recording programs.VCR Stop FunctionYou can assign the [VCR STOP] function to either custom key ( 79). In VCR stop mode the camcorder isonly partially turned off: The camera section is powered normally while the recorder section is shut off. Whenyou press the assigned custom key, you can make adjustments to the camera section as long as necessarywithout worrying about the 5-minute shut-off timer of the power save function.
