CHAPTER 14 VERSION UPCOPYRIGHT © 2002 CANON INC. 2000 CANON iR1600/iR2000 REV.1 JAN. 2002 14-11 Upgrading1.1 OutlineThe machine or its accessory is upgraded by downloading firmware from a PC or by re-placing the ROM DIMM.The firmware that may be upgraded is either of the following 2 types:• System software (machine; ROM DIMM on image processor PCB)• Finisher-L1 (accessory; ROM DIMM on finisher controller PCB)Downloading of the system software is done by way of the USB port of the image proces-sor PCB.The ROM DIMM is made available as a service part, and upgrading may take place byreplacing the ROM DIMM.Downloading of the Finisher-L1 is done by connecting a PC to the finisher controller PCBby way of downloader PCB.The ROM is built into the CPU, which is directly soldered to the finisher controller, andcannot be replaced in the filed.
