392 Auto Image and Configuration Updatebe using the same configuration file and/or image on the USB device. Thismethod allows different IP addresses to be assigned, but the sameconfiguration file or image is downloaded to multiple switches. After the current switch has been configured and/or upgraded and thecompletion message is displayed on the switch, the current line in the *.setuptext file will be marked as used. This allows you to use the *.setup file foradditional switches without manually changing the file. You can then removethe USB device and insert it into the next switch to begin the process again. Also, the switch MAC address of the switch that has been automaticallyconfigured is added to the beginning of the line (if no MAC address wasspecified in the file) for lines using the IP address lookup method so that theMAC and IP address combinations are recorded within the *.setup file forfuture use bindings. At the start of the next USB auto download, if all lines in the *.setup file aremarked as already “in-use” or “invalid,” and there is no MAC address matchfor a switch, the process will halt, and a message similar to the following isdisplayed on the console:<###> APR 22 08:32:43 Error: Auto Configuration hasterminated due to there being no more lines availablefor use within the USB file “XXXXX.setup”.Configuration FileThe *.text configuration file identified in the *.setup file contains therunning-config to be loaded on to the switch. The configuration file specifiedin the *.setup file should exist on the USB device. For information about theformat and contents of the *.text file, see Editing and DownloadingConfiguration Files.Image FileIf the Auto Configuration process includes a switch image upgrade, the nameof the image file should be included in the *.setup file. The specified imagefile should exist on the USB device. What Is the Setup File Format? The setup file must have a *.setup extension or this part of the feature willnever begin. If there are multiple .setup files located on the USB device, thedellswitch.setup file will take precedence.
