Switch Feature Overview 69Green Technology FeaturesFor information about configuring Green Technology features, see"Configuring Port Characteristics" on page 477.Energy Detect ModeWhen the Energy Detect mode is enabled and the port link is down, the PHYautomatically goes down for short period of time and then wakes upperiodically to check link pulses. This mode reduces power consumption onthe port when no link partner is present.Energy Efficient EthernetThe switch supports the IEEE 802.3az Energy Efficient Ethernet (EEE)Lower Power Idle Mode, which enables both the send and receive sides of thelink to disable some functionality for power savings when the link is lightlyloaded.EEE and energy detect are supported on the N2000 and N3000 1G copperports. EEE is supported on the N4000 10G copper ports and energy detect issupported on the N4000 10G and 40G copper ports.EEE and energy detect are disabled by default on the N2000 and N3000copper ports. Energy detect is enabled by default on the N4000 switches. EEEis disabled by default on the N4000 10G copper ports.Power Utilization ReportingThe switch displays the current power consumption of the power supply (orpower supplies). This information is available from the managementinterface.
