About Your System 23LCD Status MessagesThe LCD messages consist of brief text messages that refer to events recordedin the System Event Log (SEL). For information on the SEL and configuringsystem management settings, see the systems management softwaredocumentation.NOTE: If your system fails to boot, press the System ID button for at least fiveseconds until an error code appears on the LCD. Record the code, then see "GettingHelp."Viewing Status MessagesIf a system error occurs, the LCD screen will turn amber. Press the Selectbutton to view the list of errors or status messages. Use the left and rightarrow buttons to highlight an error number, and press Select to view the error.Removing LCD Status MessagesFor faults associated with sensors, such as temperature, voltage, fans, and soon, the LCD message is automatically removed when that sensor returns to anormal state. For other faults, you must take action to remove the messagefrom the display:• Clear the SEL — You can perform this task remotely, but you will lose theevent history for the system.• Power cycle — Turn off the system and disconnect it from the electricaloutlet; wait approximately ten seconds, reconnect the power cable, andrestart the system.NOTE: The following LCD status messages are displayed in the Simple format. See“Setup Menu" to select the format in which the messages are displayed.Link indicator is green The NIC is connected to a valid network link at1000 Mbps.Link indicator is amber The NIC is connected to a valid network link at10/100 Mbps.Activity indicator is greenblinkingNetwork data is being sent or received.Indicator Description
