154 Jumpers and ConnectorsDisabling a Forgotten PasswordThe system's software security features include a system password and a setuppassword, which are discussed in detail in "Using the System Setup Programand UEFI Boot Manager" on page 39. The password jumper enables thesepassword features or disables them and clears any password(s) currently inuse.CAUTION: Many repairs may only be done by a certified service technician. Youshould only perform troubleshooting and simple repairs as authorized in yourproduct documentation, or as directed by the online or telephone service andsupport team. Damage due to servicing that is not authorized by Dell is not coveredby your warranty. Read and follow the safety instructions that came with theproduct.1 Turn off the system, including any attached peripherals, and disconnectthe system from the electrical outlet.2 Open the system. See "Opening the System" on page 64.3 Move the password jumper to the "disabled" position to clear thepassword.
