92 Installing System ComponentsRemoving an Expansion CardCAUTION: Many repairs may only be done by a certified service technician.You should only perform troubleshooting and simple repairs as authorized inyour product documentation, or as directed by the online or telephone serviceand support team. Read and follow the safety instructions that camewith the product.1 Turn off the system, including any attached peripherals, and disconnectthe system from the electrical outlet.2 Open the system. See "Opening the System" on page 64.3 Remove the cooling shroud. See "Removing the Cooling Shroud" onpage 66.4 Disconnect all cables from the card.5 Open the expansion-card latch. See Figure 3-13.6 Grasp the expansion card by its edges, and carefully remove it from theexpansion-card connector.7 If you are removing the card permanently, install a metal filler bracket overthe empty expansion slot opening and close the expansion-card latch.NOTE: You must install a filler bracket over an empty expansion slot tomaintain Federal Communications Commission (FCC) certification of thesystem. The brackets also keep dust and dirt out of the system and aid inproper cooling and airflow inside the system.8 Close the system. See "Closing the System" on page 65.9 Reconnect the system to its electrical outlet and turn the system on,including any attached peripherals.
