Indication messages when using edit keyThe following indication messages can occur when usingthe Edit key:●● (Improper Security) message will display whileattempting an edit function when changes are disabledby the security system. To enable, enter a higher securitycode at FC 99. To enter the Security Code key in:Func, 99, Enter, Security Code, Enter.Proceed with function code value and setting changes.●● (VALUE TOO LOW) means the function value you haveentered is below the acceptable limit.●● (VALUE TOO HIGH) means the function value you haveentered is above the acceptable limit. For more information, refer to Section 5: ControlProgramming: Indication messages.Tap-changer operation troubleshootingThe regulator will not operate manually or automatically1. Connect a voltmeter between R1 and G. Set theCONTROL FUNCTION switch on LOCAL MANUAL2. Toggle the RAISE switch and measure the voltagebetween terminals R1 and G. The voltage readingshould approximate the set voltage setting.3. Place the voltmeter hot lead on L1, then toggle theLOWER switch.4. Measure the voltage between terminals L1 and G. Thevoltage reading should approximate the set voltagevalue.5. If correct voltage readings are obtained in Steps 2and 4, the trouble may be in the position indicator, junction box, control cable, or motor capacitor. Refer tothe junction box troubleshooting section in documentMN225008EN VR-32 Voltage Regulator with Quik-DriveTap-Changer Installation, Operation, and MaintenanceInstructions.6. If there is no voltage measurement in either Step 2 or4, make a corresponding measurement (from R3 to Gand L3 to G) on lower terminal board TB2 or TB3.7. If the voltages measured in Step 6 are approximatelythe set voltage value, then the fault is likely a looseconnection or a faulty terminal on the back panel.8. If Steps 2, 4, and 6 do not provide voltage readings, measure the voltage between VM and G. The readingshould approximate the set voltage value.9. If Step 8 does not yield a voltage measurement, check the voltage between V1 and G at the voltagedisconnect knife switch.A. If the set voltage value is approximately obtained, the V1 disconnect or the ratio-correctingtransformer (RCT1) of the rear panel signal circuit isprobably faulty.B. If voltage is not obtained, the trouble is in thecontrol cable, junction box, or regulator tank. Referto the junction box troubleshooting section ofdocument MN225008EN VR-32 Voltage Regulatorwith Quik-Drive Tap-Changer Installation, Operation, and Maintenance Instructions. If the junctionbox checks are satisfactory, the trouble is in theregulator tank.
