Instruction ManualPage 158 Maintenance manual8.1 Checklists- Check the condition of all parts / components of the hydraulic cylinderevery month. Look for damaged, corroded or worn parts. If any part isdamaged or worn, contact the manufacturer of the cylinder so thecomponents will be replaced safe and effective.- Keep the hydraulic system and components free from any kind ofenvironmental threats.- Check if the connections and fittings are still properly fixed. Connectionsthat are loosened can cause leakage that will result in loss of oil, damagesto the installation and environment.- Check the oil temperature and oil cleanliness (NAS class) regularly. The oiltemperature may not exceed 70°C else it will damage the seals of thecylinder. Temperature of water glycol may not exceed 50°C.- Cleaning with high-pressure spray-nozzle is not allowed. This toavoid damages on painting, silicon sealant, seals, dirt wiper, bearings, etc.- All inspections and maintenance activities need to be properlydocumented in the maintenance and inspection log and need to beavailable to benefit Eaton warranty policy.Do NOT disassemble a cylinder! If any part has to be replacedcontact the manufacturer of the cylinder. Warranty expireswhen disassembly is done by third parties. (None Eatonpersonnel)8.2 Maintenance description for basic partsPiston rod- Fresh water environment: fully actuate the piston rod minimum once amonth- Brackish or salt water environment, the frequency of retracting andextending should be minimum twice a week.- Check every month the surface of the piston rod for any kind of damage. The piston rod normally is protected with the oil containing in the cylinderitself.- Always protect the extended part of the piston rod (the part which is neverin contact with oil) with a Denso system. The tape on the primer shouldhave a 50% overlap (Primer will protect the piston rod surface from water. The tape will protect the primer and prevent air from affecting the rodsurface). Check the condition of the Denso-tape every month. The tapecould be damaged due to an external threat such as an impact. In case ofdamage, replace the Denso-tape.- Piston rod coating should be protected from abrasion due to wind and rainborne duct particles and dirt from the surrounding areas, during hot work orother operations in the proximity.- If the rod surface is impacted by a foreign object than the rod surfaceneeds to be checked for any surface irregularities. If irregularities are foundEaton should be contacted.
