In case ofdamage repair this immediately. Only use water-resistant silicone sealant.Eaton can advise which sealant to use for your application.Rod eyes/Bottom eyes/trunnionWhen a cylinder is provided with bearings, these bearings need to be greasedor inspected once a month. Metal-to-metal contact is fatal; also the temperaturewill increase with metal-to-metal contact. The lifespan of bearings will decreaserapidly when it’s not greased or oiled well.Maintenance-free bearings should not be greased! Maintenance free sphericalball bearings can be provided with protection-flanges with extra seals. Thechamber, between the bearing and the seals can be filled with grease, as anextra barrier against water and dirt.8.3 Oil maintenanceChanging oil and oil filters can be done by personnel who are certified inchanging oil of hydraulic systems. Otherwise it can be done by Eatonpersonnel. Take an oil sample twice a year and check the cleanliness andpercentage of water in the oil (according EN 12937). The cleanliness of the oilmust be according NAS class maximum 7 (according ISO 4406).Wear metal contaminants in the oil or water glycol must be kept below 1 ppm.
