InsulGard System Installation and Start Up Guideline29Appendix 1. PD System Installation Checklist# Procedure ResultInstallation:1 Unpack InsulGard and sensors, verify packing lists andequipment condition2 Verify that it is the system designated for the object. Temporallabel on the front panel of an InsulGard shows the objectname. The serial number on the InsulGard label shouldcoincide with InsulGard serial number in database software forthis object.Object name:Object nameplate information:Insulgard serial number3 Verify power voltage designated on the InsulGard label. (Don’tuse UPS power, beware of autotransformers, use insulatingtransformer instead if needed.).U=4 Identify sensor placement specifics. For switchgear line thePD sensor placement needs to coincide with worksheet filledout at the time of order entry. For motors it usually shouldcoincide with the configuration table in Figure 1-12 Link.5 Proceed with installation and cable termination in accordancewith corresponding Manuals and “PD Sensor Configuration”Table.4 or 5 in Appendix 2 Link.Circuits Integrity Check6 Check External Ground being brought to the Insulgard (right tothe Door mount unit or to InsulGard panel / enclosure).7 Measure power supply voltage and write down in the Table 1in Appendix 2. (If insulating transformer was used for powersupply, check voltage only between Line and Neutral)Table 1 - Link8 Check IPDS sensor installation. Make sure the sensors arereliably grounded. Check clearance between sensors withjumper cable installed on different phases and also betweenthem and grounding surfaces. Keep clearance between signalcables and HV side. Rule of thumb: clearance should be thesame as IPDS height for given voltage class.9 Check RFCT sensor installation: proper direction to Groundthe arrow on the sensor label and that the wires groundingfeeder shields don’t touch grounding surface before they gothrough the sensor.10 Check RTD-6-PD sensor board installation (only for rotatingmachines). Fill out the Table 3 in Appendix 2.Table 3 for rotating machines - Link11 Check proper connection of PD sensors to the SensorInterface Board. Measure resistance of each PD sensoracross board terminals and write down in the Table 4 or 5 inAppendix 2.Table 4 for rotating machines - Link.Table 5 for switchgears - Link.12 Check external Temperature and Load (if installed) sensorsresistance and fill out Table 2 in Appendix 2. Verifyreasonable reading of the temperature and humidity on theInsulGard display after its power ON.Table 2 - LinkT =H =Insulgard Configuration Verification13 Software and database corresponding to the object havebeen installed. Make sure the Modbus address and baud rateare correct.14 Verify Communication with the InsulGard through local port.Set the correct date and local time.
