Power Xpert 9395 UPS (450–550 kVA) Installation and Operation Manual 164201701 Rev 4 www.eaton.com/powerquality 1-1Chapter 1 IntroductionThe Power Xpert 9395 uninterruptible power supply (UPS) is a true online,continuous-duty, transformerless, double-conversion, solid-state, three-phase system,providing conditioned and uninterruptible AC power to protect the customer's loadfrom power failures.The Power Xpert 9395 UPS (450–550 kVA) contains two sections: a sectionconfigured either as an integrated system bypass module (ISBM) or an Input OutputModule (IOM) rated for a maximum of 550 kVA and an Uninterruptible Power Module(UPM) section containing two UPMs. Each UPM is rated for a maximum of 275 kVAfor a total maximum of 550 kVA.The UPS is available as a single unit or as an optional multiple unit distributed bypasssystem (see paragraph 1.2.7).The UPS Plus 1 model using the Field Installed UPM (FI-UPM) provides N+1redundancy for the system (see paragraph 1.2.2).The Power Xpert 9395 online power protection system is used to prevent loss ofvaluable electronic information, minimize equipment downtime, and minimize theadverse effect on production equipment due to unexpected power problems.The Power Xpert 9395 UPS continually monitors incoming electrical power andremoves the surges, spikes, sags, and other irregularities that are inherent incommercial utility power. Working with a building's electrical system, the UPSsystem supplies clean, consistent power that sensitive electronic equipment requiresfor reliable operation. During brownouts, blackouts, and other power interruptions,batteries provide emergency power to safeguard operation.The UPS is housed in a single, free‐standing cabinet with safety shields behind thedoor and front panels for hazardous voltage protection. The cabinet matches thebattery, FI-UPM, and Maintenance Bypass Module (MBM) cabinets in style and color.Figure 1‐1 shows the Power Xpert 9395 UPS (450–550 kVA). The descriptions in this section provide a brief overview ofthe UPS standard features.1.1.1 Installation FeaturesThe cabinet can be permanently bolted to the floor.Power and control wiring can be routed through the top or bottom of the cabinet withconnections made to easily accessible terminals. External sensing and monitoringcontrol wire must be installed in accordance with Class 1 wiring methods.Figure
