GE Multilin F60 Feeder Protection System 5-1915 Z SETTINGS 5.7 CONTROL ELEMENTS5EXAMPLE 2: BREAKER TRIP CIRCUIT INTEGRITY MONITORINGIf it is required to monitor the trip circuit continuously, independent of the breaker position (open or closed), a method tomaintain the monitoring current flow through the trip circuit when the breaker is open must be provided (as shown in the fig-ure below). This can be achieved by connecting a suitable resistor (see figure below) across the auxiliary contact in the tripcircuit. In this case, it is not required to supervise the monitoring circuit with the breaker position – the BLOCK setting isselected to “Off”. In this case, the settings are as follows (EnerVista UR Setup example shown).Figure 5–99: TRIP CIRCUIT EXAMPLE 2The wiring connection for two examples above is applicable to both form-A contacts with voltage monitoring andsolid-state contact with voltage monitoring.Trip coil52aUR-series devicewith form-A contactsI = current monitorV = voltage monitorDC–827074A3.CDRH1aH1bH1cIV DC+BypassresistorRPower supply Resistance Power24 V DC 1000 Ω 2 W30 V DC 5000 Ω 2 W48 V DC 10000 Ω 2 W110 V DC 25000 Ω 5 W125 V DC 25000 Ω 5 W250 V DC 50000 Ω 5 WValues for resistor “R”NOTE
