Service and Repair Manual November 2016Steer Axle Components76 GS-2669 DC • GS-3369 DC • GS-4069 DC Part No. 1272220GT8-6 Steer Angl e Sens or8-6Steer Angle SensorHow to Replace the Steer AngleSensorThe steer angle sensor, installed on the steer yoke,is monitored by the control system to determinesteer angle. The control system uses the steerangle input, along with pre-programmedparameters, to vary the speed of each drive motorwhile steering to minimize tire scrub and to helpminimize turning radius. Drive speed is alsoreduced proportionately depending on the steerangle to minimize lateral platform acceleration.1 Adjust the steer tires so they are in a straightdriving position.2 Turn the key switch to the off position.3 Push in the red Emergency Stop button to theoff position at both the ground and platformcontrols and turn the key switch to the offposition.4 Remove the cable clamp securing the steersensor cable to the chassis.5 Tag and disconnect the steer sensor harnessfrom the main harness.6 Remove the steer sensor cover.7 Remove the tie rod pivot pin retainingfasteners.1 left yoke assembly2 steer sensor cover3 compression spring4 steer sensor actuator5 tie rod pivot pin8 Use a small pry bar to move the pivot pin downenough to clear the steer sensor assembly.9 Remove the steer sensor actuator and springfrom the tie rod pivot pin and set aside.Note: Inspect the steer sensor actuator to makesure it is not broken or twisted.
