June 2017 Service and Repair ManualBoom ComponentsPart No. 1268497 SX-180 694-7Primary Boom Angle SensorThe primary boom angle sensor is used to limit theangle of the primary boom relative to the angle ofthe turntable and gravity. How to Calibrate the PrimaryBoom Angle SensorNote: If the angle sensor is replaced, both thesensor and magnet must be replaced as a set.Note: Perform this procedure with the machine ona firm, level surface and in the stowed position withthe axles extended.Note: The turntable level sensor must be calibratedprior to calibrating the primary boom.Note: RSB1AO and RSB1AS are calibrated at thesame time.Note: Primary boom angle must be calibratedbefore calibrating boom length.Note: If the calibration flags between SCON andTCON do not agree after calibration, a crosscheckfault is generated and recorded and the affectedboom function is inhibited.Note: A digital level will be required to perform thisprocedure.Note: A kit is available through Genie ProductSupport (Genie part number 58351). This kitincludes a digital level with a magnetic base andcable harnesses.Note: Use the following chart to identify thedescription of each LCD screen control button usedin this procedure.Plus Minus Previous Enter1 Push in the ground controls red EmergencyStop button to the off position.2 Turn the key switch to ground controls.3 Open the ground control box.4 Locate the calibration toggle switch at the topof the ground control box. Activate calibrationmode by moving the toggle switch in the leftdirection.5 Temporarily install a control box door retainingfastener between the door and the box toprevent the control box door from moving thetoggle switch while calibrating the machine.6 Remove the key from the main key switch.Insert the key into the bypass/recovery keyswitch and turn it to the bypass position.Note: The angle sensor calibration values will notbe saved correctly unless the key switch is in thebypass position and the calibration toggle switch isactivated.
