Press the RDS button @% until the cur-rent PTY is shown in the Main InformationDisplay W.2. While the PTY is shown, press the PresetUp/Down button )M or hold them pressedto scroll through the list of available PTY types,as shown above. To simply search for the nextstation transmitting any RDS data, use thePreset Up/Down button )M until RDSONLY appears in the display.3. Press any of the Tuning Up/Down buttons8N, the tuner begins to scan the FM bandupwards or downwards for the first station thathas RDS data that matches the desired selec-tion, and acceptable signal strength for qualityreception.4. While the PTY Indicator AB flashes in thedisplay, the tuner will make up to one completescan of the entire FM band for the next stationthat matches the desired PTY type and hasacceptable reception quality. If no such station isfound, the display will read NONE for someseconds and the tuner will return to the last FMstation in use before the search.NOTE: Many stations do not transmit a specificPTY. The display will show NONE, when such astation is selected and PTY is active.NOTE: Some stations transmit constant trafficinformation. To identify as traffic station, theytransmit a specific traffic code constantly, whichcauses the TA Indicator Y to light in the dis-play. These stations can be found by selectingTRAFFIC, the option in front of NEWS in the list.The AVR 7000 RDS will find the appropriate sta-tion, even if it is not broadcasting traffic informa-tion when the search is made.Tape RecordingIn normal operation, the audio or video sourceselected for listening through the AVR 7000 issent to the record outputs. This means that anyprogram you are watching or listening to may berecorded simply by placing machines connectedto the outputs for Tape Outputs ‚ or Video 1Outputs h in the record mode.When a digital audio recorder is connected tothe Digital Audio Outputs ‡, you are able torecord the digital signal using a CD-R, MiniDiscor other digital recording system.NOTES:• The digital outputs are active only when a digi-tal signal is present, and they do not convert ananalog input to a digital signal, or change theformat of the digital signal. In additon, the digitalrecorder must be compatible with the output sig-nal. For example, the PCM digital input from aCD player may be recorded on a CD-R orMiniDisc, but Dolby Digital or DTS signals maynot.• Recording the signal of a Dolby Digital or DTSsource is not possible, if the source is connectedto a digital input of the AVR 7000 only. But theanalog two channel signal of that source can berecorded (see item 5, ”Important Notes onDigital Playback” above).Output Level Trim AdjustmentNormal output level adjustment for theAVR 7000 is established using the test tone, asoutlined on page 25. In some cases, however, itmay be desirable to adjust the output levelsusing program material such as a test disc, or aselection you are familiar with. Additionally, theoutput level for the subwoofer and those for theStereo and VMAx modes can only be adjustedusing this procedure.To adjust the output levels using program materi-al, first select the surround mode for which youwant to trim the speakers (see NOTE below), startyour program material source and set the refer-ence volume for the front left and front rightchannels using the Volume Control*!˙.Once the reference level has been set, press theChannel Select button 7Ú and note thatFRONT L LEV will appear in the MainInformation Display W. To change the level,first press the Set button 8 ( , and then usethe Selector buttons 5 or the ⁄ / ¤ buttons6 to raise or lower the level. DO NOT use thevolume control, as this will alter the referencesetting.Once the change has been made, press the Setbutton 8 ( and then press the Selector but-tons 5 or the ⁄/¤ buttons 6 to select thenext output channel location that you wish toadjust. To adjust the subwoofer level, press theSelector buttons 5 or the ⁄/¤ buttons 6until WOOFER LEV appears in the MainInformation Display W or on-screen display.(only available if the subwoofer is turned on).Press the Set button 8 ( when the name ofthe desired channel appears in the MainInformation Display W and on-screen display,and follow the instructions shown above toadjust the level.Repeat the procedure as needed until all chan-nels requiring adjustment have been set. Whenall adjustments have been made press the Setbutton 8 ( twice, the AVR 7000 will returnto normal operation.The channel output may also be adjusted usingthe full-OSD on-screen menu system. First, setthe volume to a comfortable listening level usingthe Volume Control *!˙. Then, pressthe OSD button I to bring up the mainAUDIO SETUP menu (Figure 1). Press the¤ Button 6 until the on-screen › cursor isnext to the CHANNEL ADJUST line.Press the Set Button 8 to activate theCHANNEL ADJUST menu (Figure 8).
