Chapter 4. Configuring the serverThe ServerGuide Setup and Installation CD provides software setup tools andinstallation tools that are specifically designed for your IBM server. Use this CDduring the initial installation of the server to configure basic hardware features andto simplify the operating-system installation.In addition to the ServerGuide Setup and Installation CD, you can use the followingconfiguration programs to customize the server hardware:v Configuration/Setup Utility programv Baseboard management controller utility programsv SAS/SATA Configuration Utility programv ServeRAID Managerv PXE boot utility programFor more information about these programs, see the information in this chapter and“Configuring the server” in the User’s Guide on the IBM Documentation CD.Using the ServerGuide Setup and Installation CDThe ServerGuide Setup and Installation CD provides programs to detect the servermodel and installed hardware options, configure the server hardware, providedevice drivers, and help you install the operating system. For information about thesupported operating-system versions, see the label on the CD. If the ServerGuideSetup and Installation CD did not come with the server, you can download the latestversion from http://www.ibm.com/pc/qtechinfo/MIGR-4ZKPPT.html.Complete the following steps to start the ServerGuide Setup and Installation CD:1. Insert the CD, and restart the server. If the CD does not start, see “ServerGuideproblems” on page 50.2. Follow the instructions on the screen to:a. Select your language.b. Select your keyboard layout and country.c. View the overview to learn about ServerGuide features.d. View the readme file to review installation tips about your operating systemand adapter.e.
