For details on handling thesedevices, see “Handling static sensitive devices” on page xi.To install a DIMM, do the following:1. Review the safety precautions in “Safety” on page v.2. Turn off the server, and remove the power cords.3. Remove the cover (see “Removing the side cover” on page 10 for details).4. Select the connector in which to install the DIMM.5. Touch the static-protective package containing the DIMM to any unpainted metalsurface on the server. Then, remove the DIMM from the package.Attention: To avoid breaking the retaining clips or damaging the DIMMconnectors, handle the clips gently.6. Install the DIMM:a. Open the retaining clips on the connector.b. Turn the DIMM so that the pins align correctly with the connector.c. Insert the DIMM into the connector by pressing on one edge of the DIMMand then on the other edge of the DIMM. Ensure that you press the DIMMstraight into the connector.d. Make sure that the retaining clips are in the closed position. If a gap existsbetween the DIMM and the retaining clips, the DIMM has not been properlyinstalled. In this case, open the retaining clips and remove the DIMM; then,reinsert the DIMM.7. If you have other options to install or remove, do so now.8.
