You can press the power-control button to turn on the server.Lit: The server is turned on.v System-locator LED: Use this LED to visually locate the server among otherservers. You can use IBM Systems Director or IMM2 web interface to light thisLED remotely.v System-error LED: When this LED is lit, it indicates that a system error hasoccurred. An LED on the light path diagnostics panel is also lit to help isolatethe error.Server power featuresWhen the server is connected to an ac power source but is not turned on, theoperating system does not run, and all core logic except for the integratedmanagement module is shut down. However, the server can respond to requests from IMM, such as a remote requestto turn on the server. The power-on LED flashes to indicate that the server isconnected to an ac power source but is not turned on.Turning on the serverUse this information to turn on the server.Approximately 5 seconds after the server is connected to power, one or more fansmight start running to provide cooling while the server is connected to power andthe power-on button LED will blink quickly. Approximately 5 to 10 seconds afterthe server is connected to power, the power-control button becomes active (thepower-on LED will blink slowly), and one or more fans might start running toprovide cooling while the server is connected to power. When 4 GB or more of memory (physical or logical) is installed, some memoryis reserved for various system resources and is unavailable to the operatingsystem. The amount of memory that is reserved for system resources dependson the operating system, the configuration of the server, and the configuredPCI options.2. Ethernet 1 connector supports Wake on LAN feature.3. When you turn on the server with the graphical adapters installed, the IBMlogo displays on the screen after approximately 3 minutes. This is normaloperation while the system loads.Chapter 1. The IBM System x3550 M4 server 23
