The following descriptionswill aid in choosing the type setting OFFthat will gived optimum results:Hold or Warm: Food maintains a temperature above 140° Fwithout continuing to cook. Food is heated on a higher flamesize until it reaches this temperature and then the flame size isreduced. Never use a hold or warm setting to reheat coldfood. Be sure knob is adjusted to produce a stable flame. (Usethe LOW setting or the simmer burner located at the right rearto keep food warm.)Simmer: Food forms bubbles that barely break the surface.Foods are between 185° F and 200° F. A simmer setting canalso be used to steam or poach foods or continue cookingcovered foods. (Adjust the knob between HIGH arid LOW toobtain the desired simmer action.)Slow Boil: Food forms bubbles at a moderate pace. A slowboil setting can also be used for most frying and formaintaining the cooking of large amounts of liquids. (Adjustthe knob between HIGH and LOW to obtain the desired boilaction.)Boil: Liquid forms bubbles at a rapid pace. A fast boil settingcan be used to bring liquid to a boil, brown meat, stir fry,saute, arid heat oil for frying before turning to a lower setting.The HIGH setting is always used to bring liquids to a boil.Once the liquid boils, always reduce the flame size to thelowest setting that will maintain the boil action. 0-urn the knobto HIGH then adjust the flame size to fit the size of the pan.)Pilotless IgnitionPilotless ignition eliminates tileneed for a corlstant standing pilotlight. Each surface burner has aspark ignitor. Use care whencleaning around the surfaceburner.If the surface burner does notlight, check if ignitor isbroken, soiled or wet.BURNER CAPSurface ControlKnobsUse to turn on the surface burners. For example, the graphic at left showsO • the right front burner location.Setting the controls:Tile size and type of cookware will affect tile heat setting.1. Place a pan on the burner grate.• The burner flame may lift off or appear separated fromthe port if a pan is not placed on the grate.2. Push in and turn the knob counterclockwise to the LITEsetting.• A clicking (spark) sound will be heard arid the burnerwill light. (All four ignitors will spark when any surfaceburner knob is turned to the LITE position.)3. After the burner lights, turn knob to desired flame size.The ignitor will continue to spark until the knob isturned past the LITE position.4. After cooking, turn knob to OFF.
