Keysight E8402A, E8404A C-Size Mainframes User and Service Guide 245Calibration and Performance Verification Calibrating and Verifying PerformanceCalibration and Performance VerificationThe procedures in this section calibrate and verify the Temperature MonitorFunction and Voltage Monitor Function of the Enhanced Monitor. Specificationsare listed in Appendix A of this manual. In general, the calibration and verificationprocedures are similar. Use the reference voltmeter or temperature probe as thestandard. Calibration should be done annually.Test Conditions & ProceduresFor temperature calibration/verification, the mainframe must be empty. Thismeans that the calibration/verification commands must be sent through theEnhanced Monitor’s RS-232 port. The voltage calibration/verification should be done under normal use conditionsmeaning that typical VXI modules (VXI modules used in your test system) shouldbe installed. Refer to each procedure for specific conditions. These procedures assume that the person performing the calibration andverification understands how to operate the mainframe and specified equipment. The test procedures do not specify equipment settings for test equipment, exceptin general terms. It is assumed that a qualified, service-trained technician willselect and connect equipment required for the test. The following procedures demonstrate how to measure and store the referencemeasurements and then calibrate the Temperature Monitor function and theVoltage Monitor function. After storing the reference temperature and all of thereference voltages, you can perform a complete calibration in one step byexecuting the CAL:ALL? command.Issuing CommandsTemperature calibration and verification commands must be sent through theEnhanced Monitor’s RS-232 port. Refer to Chapter 2, “RS-232 Programming” onpage 41 for details on using the port.Temperature Monitor Calibration & VerificationTo perform a complete Temperature Calibration or Verification, the mainframemust be in the following state:– No VXI modules installed in mainframe. This means that the calibrationcommands must always be issued through the Enhanced Monitor’sRS-232 interface; no command module or embedded controller is allowed.– Mainframe is at a steady state temperature in a constant temperatureenvironment. The mainframe should be on for at least one-half hour priorto calibration or verification. The fan switch should be set to the FULLposition during warm-up and the calibration or verification.
