It helps to connect a terminal to the serial port whilediagnosing an error to view summary messages that may display. When troubleshooting,always ensure that the physical connections (power cable, network cable, and serialcable) are secure.Note: Some unexplained errors might be caused by duplicate IP addresses on thenetwork. Problems and Error MessagesProblem/Message Reason SolutionWhen you issue the ARP –Scommand in Windows, the "ARPentry addition failed: 5" messagedisplays.Your currently logged-inuser does not have thecorrect rights to use thiscommand on this PC.Have someone from your ITdepartment log you in withsufficient rights.When you attempt to assign an IPaddress to the unit by the ARPmethod, the "Press Enter to gointo Setup Mode" error"(described below) messagedisplays. Now when you Telnet tothe device server, the connectionfails.When you Telnet to port 1on the device server, youare only assigning atemporary IP address.When you Telnet into port9999 and do not pressEnter quickly, the deviceserver reboots, causing itto lose the IP address.Telnet back to port 1. Wait for itto fail, then Telnet to port 9999again. Make sure you pressEnter quickly.When you Telnet to port 9999, the"Press Enter to go into SetupMode" message displays.However, nothing happens whenyou press Enter, or yourconnection closes.You did not press Enterquickly enough. You onlyhave 5 seconds to pressEnter before theconnection closes.Telnet to port 9999 again, butpress Enter as soon as you seethe "Press Enter to go intoSetup Mode" message.
