TV Rating Explanations• TV-Y - Appropriate for allchildren• TV-Y7 - Appropriate for childrenseven and older• TV-G - General Audience• TV-PG - Parental Guidancesuggested.• TV-14 - Unsuitable for childrenunder 14• TV-MA - Mature audience onlySetting V-Chip 23TV Rating SettingsV-Chip enables parents to prevent their children from watch-ing inappropriate material on TV. V-Chip reads theratings for TV programming (except for news and sportsprograms, unedited movies on premium cable channels, andEmergency Broadcast System signals), then denies access toprogramming if the program’s rating meets the limitationsyou select. In this case, a “PROTECTED PROGRAM by ...”message appears on the TV screen.You must select adifferent TV channel or play a disc instead.V-Chip affects only TV channels. It does not block DVDplayback.To block DVD viewing, change the PARENTALfeature. Details are on pages 49-52.TV programming may be rated by the Motion PictureAssociation of America (MPAA) or according to theTelevision Parental Guidelines. In order to block anyinappropriate programming, set your limits in both places(MPAA RATING and TV RATING).● Before you begin, press SELECT to put theTV/DVD in TV mode.1 Press SETUP. Press ▲ or ▼ to select V-CHIPSET UP. Then, press ENTER.2 Press the Number buttons to enter the four-digit access code.
