12may move during the cutting operation causingpossible damage to the blade, causing the materialto be thrown and loss of control resulting in seriouspersonal injury.Horizontal vise (optional accessory)1234011305The horizontal vise can be installed on the left side of thebase. By turning the vise knob counterclockwise, thescrew is released and the vise shaft can be movedrapidly in and out. By turning the vise knob clockwise, the screw remains secured. To grip the workpiece, turnthe vise knob gently clockwise until the projectionreaches its topmost position, then fasten securely. If thevise knob is forced in or pulled out while being turnedclockwise, the projection may stop at an angle. In thiscase, turn the vise knob back counterclockwise until thescrew is released, before turning again gently clockwise. The maximum width of the workpiece which can besecured by the horizontal vise is 120 mm (4-3/4").WARNING:• Grip the workpiece only when the projection isat the topmost position. Failure to do so mayresult in insufficient securing of the workpiece. Thiscould cause the workpiece to be thrown, causedamage to the blade or cause the loss of control, which can result in PERSONAL INJURY.Holders and holder assembly(optional accessories)1 2002247The holders and the holder assembly can be installed oneither side as a convenient means of supportingworkpieces horizontally. Install them as shown in thefigure. Then tighten the screws firmly to secure theholders and the holder assembly. When cutting long workpieces, use the holder-rodassembly (optional accessory). It consists of two holderassemblies and two rods 12.21002246WARNING:• Always support a long workpiece so it is levelwith the top surface of the turn base for anaccurate cut and to prevent dangerous loss oftool control. Proper workpiece support will helpavoid blade pinch and possible kickback whichmay result in serious personal injury.OPERATIONNOTICE:• Before use, be sure to release the handle from thelowered position by pulling the stopper pin.• Do not apply excessive pressure on the handlewhen cutting. Too much force may result inoverload of the motor and/or decreased cuttingefficiency. Push down handle with only as muchforce as is necessary for smooth cutting andwithout significant decrease in blade speed.• Gently press down the handle to perform the cut. Ifthe handle is pressed down with force or if lateralforce is applied, the blade will vibrate and leave amark (saw mark) in the workpiece and theprecision of the cut will be impaired.• During a slide cut, gently push the carriage towardthe guide fence without stopping. If the carriagemovement is stopped during the cut, a mark will beleft in the workpiece and the precision of the cutwill be impaired.WARNING:• Make sure the blade is not contacting theworkpiece, etc. before the switch is turned on.Turning the tool on with the blade in contact withthe workpiece may result in kickback and seriouspersonal injury.1.
