Do not use solvents or any petroleum-basedcleaners on the plastic guard because this may causedamage to the guard.If the blade guard becomes dirty and needs to becleaned for proper operation follow the steps below:With the tool switched off and the battery cartridgeremoved, use the supplied hex wrench to loosen the hexsocket bolt holding the center cover. Loosen the hexsocket bolt by turning it counterclockwise and raise theblade guard and center cover. With the blade guard sopositioned, cleaning can be more completely andefficiently accomplished. When cleaning is completereverse procedure above and secure bolt. Do notremove spring holding blade guard. If guard becomesdamaged through age or UV light exposure, contact aMakita service center for a new guard.
