187. Wood facingUse of wood facing helps to assure splinter-freecuts in workpieces. Attach a wood facing to theguide fence using the holes in the guide fence.See the figure concerning the dimensions for asuggested wood facing.Over 15mm (5/8") Over 420mm (16-1/2")1 150mm-60mm(2"-2-3/8")27mm (1-1/16")85mm(3-3/8")70mm(2-3/4")85mm(3-3/8")70mm(2-3/4")002206CAUTION:• Use the straight wood of even thickness as thewood facing.WARNING:• Use screws to attach the wood facing to the guidefence. The screws should be installed so that thescrew heads are below the surface of the woodfacing so that they will not interfere with thepositioning of the material being cut. Misalignmentof the material being cut can case unexpectedmovement during the cutting operation which mayresult in a loss of control and serious personal injury.NOTICE:• When the wood facing is attached, do not turn theturn base with the handle lowered. The bladeand/or the wood facing will be damaged.8. Cutting repetitive lengths123001846When cutting several pieces of stock to the samelength, ranging from 220 mm (8-5/8") to 385 mm(15-1/8"), use of the set plate (optional accessory)will facilitate more efficient operation. Install the setplate on the holder (optional accessory) as shownin the figure.Align the cutting line on your workpiece with eitherthe left or right side of the groove in the kerf board, and while holding the workpiece from moving, move the set plate flush against the end of theworkpiece. Then secure the set plate with thescrew. When the set plate is not used, loosen thescrew and turn the set plate out of the way.NOTE:• Use of the holder-rod assembly (optionalaccessory) allows cutting repetitive lengths up to2,200 mm (7.2 ft) approximately.9. Groove cutting1001563A dado type cut can be made by proceeding asfollows:Adjust the lower limit position of the blade usingthe adjusting screw and the stopper arm to limit thecutting depth of the blade. Refer to "Stopper arm"section described on previously. After adjusting the lower limit position of the blade, cut parallel grooves across the width of theworkpiece using a slide (push) cut as shown in thefigure. Then remove the workpiece materialbetween the grooves with a chisel.WARNING:• Do not attempt to perform this type of cut by usinga wider type blade or dado blade. Attempting tomake a groove cut with a wider blade or dado bladecould lead to unexpected cutting results and kickbackwhich may result in serious personal injury• Be sure to return the stopper arm to the originalposition when performing other than groovecutting. Attempting to make cuts with the stopperarm in the incorrect position could lead tounexpected cutting results and kickback whichmay result in serious personal injury.Carrying tool10113001.
