13Holders and holder assembly(optional accessories)1 2002247The holders and the holder assembly can be installed oneither side as a convenient means of supportingworkpieces horizontally. Install them as shown in thefigure. Then tighten the screws firmly to secure theholders and the holder assembly. When cutting long workpieces, use the holder-rodassembly (optional accessory). It consists of two holderassemblies and two rods 12.21002246WARNING:• Always support a long workpiece so it is levelwith the top surface of the turn base for anaccurate cut and to prevent dangerous loss oftool control. Proper workpiece support will helpavoid blade pinch and possible kickback which mayresult in serious personal injury.OPERATIONNOTICE:• Before use, be sure to release the handle from thelowered position by pulling the stopper pin.• Do not apply excessive pressure on the handlewhen cutting. Too much force may result inoverload of the motor and/or decreased cuttingefficiency. Push down handle with only as muchforce as is necessary for smooth cutting andwithout significant decrease in blade speed.• Gently press down the handle to perform the cut. Ifthe handle is pressed down with force or if lateralforce is applied, the blade will vibrate and leave amark (saw mark) in the workpiece and the precisionof the cut will be impaired.• During a slide cut, gently push the carriage towardthe guide fence without stopping. If the carriagemovement is stopped during the cut, a mark will beleft in the workpiece and the precision of the cut willbe impaired.WARNING:• Make sure the blade is not contacting theworkpiece, etc. before the switch is turned on.Turning the tool on with the blade in contact with theworkpiece may result in kickback and seriouspersonal injury.1. Press cutting (cutting small workpieces)1011248Workpieces up to 52 mm high and 97 mm wide canbe cut in the following manner.Push the carriage toward the guide fence fully andtighten two clamp screws which secure the slidepoles clockwise to secure the carriage. Secure theworkpiece with the proper type of vise. Switch onthe tool without the blade making any contact andwait until the blade attains full speed beforelowering. Then gently lower the handle to the fullylowered position to cut the workpiece. When the cutis completed, switch off the tool and WAIT UNTILTHE BLADE HAS COME TO A COMPLETE STOPbefore returning the blade to its fully elevatedposition.WARNING:• Firmly tighten two clamping screws whichsecure the slide poles clockwise so that thecarriage will not move during operation.Insufficient tightening of the locking screw maycause possible kickback which may result inserious personal injury.1.
