ABOUT THE VISO FIVE INTERNAL DVD PLAYERThe VISO FIVE has exceptional playability. It has support for DVD-Video,DVD-R/-RW/+R/+RW, DVD-A, SVCD with or without PBC (Play Back Control),VCD, DivX, Audio CD, CD-R/-RW and including recorded MP3, copyright-protected WMA and JPEG files.NOTEYou cannot playback discs other than those listed above such as CD-ROM, CD-Extra, CD-G, photo-CD, and CD-i data discs. To do so mayrender the VISO FIVE permanently inoperable.REGION MANAGEMENT INFORMATIONThe VISO FIVE’s internal DVD Player is designed and manufactured torespond to the Region Management Information that is recorded on a DVDdisc. If the Region number described on the DVD disc does not correspondto the Region number shown on the back of the VISO FIVE, the internal DVDplayer cannot play that disc. The VFD will display “REG Err” (“Wrong Region”in the OSD) when an incompatible region disc is loaded.DISC LOADING AND PLAYBACKYou can open the disc tray by pressing [OPEN/CLOSE] button even if theVISO FIVE is in standby mode. The power indicator will turn from amber toblue. Place a disc on the disc tray with the playback side down.There are two different disc sizes. Place the disc in the correct guide on thedisc tray. If the disc is out of the guide, it may damage the disc and causethe VISO FIVE to malfunction. “DISC Err” appears on both the VISO FIVE’sdisplay and the TV/monitor screen, if the disc is placed upside down (and itis a single sided disc).The following are important tips when loading a disc• Do not push the disc tray while it is moving. Doing so may cause theVISO FIVE to malfunction• Do not push up the disc tray or put any objects other than discs on thedisc tray. Doing so may cause the VISO FIVE to malfunction.• Keep your fingers well clear of the disc tray as it is closing. Be especiallycareful with children’s fingers around the closing disc tray, as there is arisk of personal injury.Press [PLAY/PAUSE], the disc tray is automatically closed and playbackbegins. Press the HTR 7’s navigation buttons and then press [ENTER] or pressthe numeric button(s) to select the desired track (CD). Play of the selecteditem now begins (Depending on the DVD disc or other disc media, someoperations may be different or restricted. Refer to the jacket or case of thedisc you are playing).Press the HTR 7’s [STOP] key twice during playback to display an audio CD’stotal number of tracks and total playback time in the VFD.After playing back all of the chapters in the title, VISO FIVE’s DVD playerautomatically stops and returns to the menu screen.NOTES• Do not move the VISO FIVE during playback. Doing so may damage thedisc and the VISO FIVE.• The HTR 7 control keys [ ], [ ], [ ], [ / / / ] and [ ] are notpunch-through function keys. To use them for disc playback purposes, makesure that HTR 7’s DEVICE SELECTOR is set to “DVD”.Depending on the media, the following are other basic features of theVISO FIVE’s internal DVD player. Make sure that you select “DVD” at the DeviceSelector selection of the HTR 7 before you proceed with the specific function.TITLE AND MENU BUTTONSBoth these buttons are only found on the HTR 7. The [TITLE] and [MENU]buttons are used to display via OSD, the title headings and menus of theDVD and other applicable media. Some movie discs may contain two ormore titles. If the disc has a title menu recorded on it, the [TITLE] button canbe used to select the movie title. (The details of operation differ dependingon the disc used.)Press [TITLE] and a list of the titles on the disc are displayed. Dependingon the disc, pressing [TITLE] again will resume play from the scene when[TITLE] was first pressed.Press [ENTER], [PLAY] or the numeric button(s) to select desired title; theselected title now starts playing.Some DVDs have unique menu structures called DVD menus. For example,DVDs programmed with complex contents provide guide menus, andthose recorded with various languages provide menus for audio andsubtitle language.Press [MENU] during play; the DVD menu available on the disc is nowdisplayed. Pressing [MENU] again resumes play from the scene when MENUwas first pressed.RANDOMPress the HTR 7’s RANDOM key during playback and “Random” briefly appearson the upper line of the VFD. “Ran” will then be displayed in VFD alongside thetrack number and playback time. Press [ / ] for random playback ofaudio tracks. Press RANDOM again to return to normal playback.For iPod songs, “Ran Song” or “Ran Album” will be displayed in the VFD asapplicable. “Ran Song” allows random playback of songs within an album orplaylist. On the other hand, “Ran Album” randomly plays all the songs in analbum.
