General Description 2-37To remove a floppy disk from the drive, press the eject button.CHECK:Before removing a floppy disk, make sure that the floppy disk access LED is off. If you eject afloppy disk while the LED is on, the stored data could be damaged.Use of Floppy DiskYou may need to store important data on floppy disks. Since the floppy disk is a very delicatemedium, you must handle it with extra care: Push the floppy disk gently into place. Attach the label on a proper position. Do not use a pencil or ballpoint pen to write on the floppy disk. Do not open the protective shutter. Do not use the floppy disk in a dusty place. Do not place anything on the floppy disk. Do not leave the floppy disk in a place that is subject to direct sunlight or high temperatures(e.g., near a heater). Keep away from cigarette smoke. Do not leave the floppy disk near water or chemicals. Keep away from magnetic objects. Do not clip disks. Be careful not to drop. Store floppy disks in a protective case where they are kept away from magnetic waves ordust. To prevent data from being erased accidentally, thefloppy disk has a write-protect notch. When the disk iswrite-protected, you can read data, but you cannot writethe data or format the disk. It is recommendable towrite-protect floppy disks that contain important dataexcept when you write data to the floppy disk. Towrite-protect a 3.5-inch floppy disk, slide thewrite-protect notch located on its back. The floppy disk is a very delicate storage medium. Dust or changes in temperature couldcause data to be lost. Data loss could also be caused by faulty operation and computertrouble. To avoid such possible data loss, it is recommendable to back up important dataregularly. (Be sure to make back-up copies of the floppy disks that are included with NECExpress5800/ft series.)
