68 Shooting ControlsShooting ControlsThis chapter describes controls that can be used duringshooting.Press the mode dial lockrelease and rotate the modedial to choose from thefollowing modes:• b Auto: A “point-and-shoot”mode in which the camerasets exposure and hue(0 41, 45).• P Programmed auto: The camera sets shutter speed and aperturefor optimal exposure. Recommended for snapshots and inother situations in which there is little time to adjust camerasettings.• S Shutter-priority auto: You choose the shutter speed; the cameraselects the aperture for best results. Use to freeze or blurmotion.• A Aperture-priority auto: You choose the aperture; the cameraselects the shutter speed for best results. Use to blurbackgrounds or bring both foreground and background intofocus.• M Manual: You control both shutter speed and aperture.
