Reference information102Reference informationBattery informationCharging and dischargingYour device is powered by a rechargeable battery. The fullperformance of a new battery is achieved only after two orthree complete charge and discharge cycles. The battery canbe charged and discharged hundreds of times but it willeventually wear out. When the talk and standby times arenoticeably shorter than normal, buy a new battery. Use onlyNokia approved batteries, and recharge your battery only withNokia approved chargers designated for this device.Unplug the charger from the electrical plug and the devicewhen not in use. Do not leave the battery connected to acharger. Overcharging may shorten its lifetime. If left unused, afully charged battery will lose its charge over time. Temperatureextremes can affect the ability of your battery to charge.Use the battery only for its intended purpose. Never use anycharger or battery that is damaged.Do not short-circuit the battery. Accidental short-circuitingcan occur when a metallic object such as a coin, clip, or pencauses direct connection of the positive (+) and negative (-)terminals of the battery. (These look like metal strips on thebattery.) This might happen, for example, when you carry aspare battery in your pocket or purse. Short-circuiting theterminals may damage the battery or the connecting object.Leaving the battery in hot or cold places, such as in a closedcar in summer or winter conditions, will reduce the capacityand lifetime of the battery. Always try to keep the batterybetween 59°F and 77°F (15°C and 25°C). A device with a hotor cold battery may not work temporarily, even when thebattery is fully charged. Battery performance is particularlylimited in temperatures well below freezing.Do not dispose of batteries in a fire as they may explode.Batteries may also explode if damaged. Dispose of batteriesaccording to local regulations. Please recycle when possible.Do not dispose as household waste. The BL-5C battery provides up to 4 hours of talk time and upto 11 days of standby time. Operation times are estimates andmay vary depending on network conditions, charging, anddevice use.Nokia battery authentication guidelinesAlways use original Nokia batteries for your safety.
