Messaging42To enter and send service requests, such as activationcommands for network services, to your service provider,select Menu > Messaging > Mailbox > Options >Service command.Cell broadcast is a network service that allows you toreceive messages on various topics, such as weather ortraffic conditions from your service provider. For availabletopics and relevant topic numbers, contact your serviceprovider. In the main view of Messaging, select Options >Cell broadcast. In the main view, you can see the statusof a topic, a topic number, name, and follow-up flag ( ),if applicable.Options in Cell broadcast are Open, Subscribeor Unsubscribe, Hotmark or Remove hotmark,Topic, Settings, Help, and Exit.A packet data connection may prevent cell broadcastreception.Writing textTraditional text inputABC and abc indicate the selected case. Abc means thatthe first letter of the word is written in upper case, and allother letters are automatically written in lower case. 123indicates number mode.Abc is shown on the top right of the display when you arewriting text using traditional text input.• Press a number key (1–9) repeatedly until the desiredcharacter appears. There are more characters availablefor a number key than are printed on the key.• To insert a number, press and hold the number key.• To switch between letter and number mode, press andhold #.• If the next letter is located on the same key as thepresent one, wait until the cursor appears (or scrollright to end the time-out period), and enter the letter.• To erase a character, press the clear key. Press and holdthe clear key to clear more than one character.• The most common punctuation marks are availableunder 1. Press 1 repeatedly to reach the desiredpunctuation mark.Press * to open a list of special characters. Scroll throughthe list, and select a character.• To insert a space, press 0.
